A10 Subways

Refurbishment of pedestrian subways for main contractor Ringway Jacobs, on behalf of TfL, has now been completed on two more sites, at the junctions of the A10 with Bullsmoor Lane and Turkey Street.

As with other subways Rhinoceros has repaired along this stretch of road, water ingress and corrosion of concrete retaining walls had damaged the structures over the years, and years of heavy use had contributed to worn and crumbling stairways.

The project for Rhinoceros was to restore structural integrity to the wall surfaces and update appearance of the subways as part of a larger series of similar contracts.

Works undertaken by Rhinoceros included demolition followed by replacement of render to retaining walls with waterproof render on Stainless Steel EML. Installation of DDA compliant handrails, surface preparation and painting of parapets and soffits, and installation of GRP stair overlays completed the project.
